I will return

In October 2007, I joined Andre and Michael on a safari in Africa. We were accompanied by two others and the cook, Moshi. It was the ultimate experience! I love nature and photography. More so, if I can experience it together with pleasant company. Andre and Michael created a perfect journey: Ten days Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. They presented the most impressive and the most beautiful places that I have ever seen in my life.

Michael is a very professional guide who, in my opinion, can spot a fly on the back of a mouse five kilometres away while on a bumpy ride in a landcruiser. Time and again he baffled me with his knowledge. Along with Andre, who also has a great knowledge of African flora and fauna, he made this trip unforgettable.

Andre is also a professional photographer. His help and advice have certainly contributed to my satisfaction with my own photos. In short, I saw all the animals I wanted to see...
… The camp was fantastic (which I would not have wanted to miss)
… The landscape was ‘unreal’
… And I know one thing for sure: I will return!

Mysticism of Africa

I met Andre Vondeling in a completely different role. He then worked as a consultant in a recruitment company. We stayed in contact, and I soon realised that he was an autodidactic nature photographer with a mission. He believes that everyone should be exposed to nature in general, and to the African nature in particular. I have seen this passion develop out of an idea to the birth of a concept. Even though he lives in the Netherlands, he lives and breathes the mystery of Africa.

Tanzania - October 2007

What can you expect? Driving for days, occasionally spotting an animal in the distance? It is probably not as seen on TV where you can almost touch them, right? Well, that may be so. I have (fortunately) not touched but seen them very close. Spotting an animal only occasionally? Well no, there is no question of extinction, but rather overcrowding (at least that is how it appeared sometimes).

It is so overwhelming, so beautiful. Every day you think that it could not be more beautiful the next day. Yet it is more beautiful, more impressive. All the animals I could propose, I have seen. Sometimes from a distance, sometimes close by, sometimes alone, sometimes from the middle of the herd and usually many on one day.

And even if you do not see animals, the landscape and temperature are also fantastic. What more could you want? In short, one of best holidays ever! Soon, 1 or 2 of my travel companions will journey again. Shall I too...

And before I forget, the driver and cook were each, apart from the fact that they are generally nice people, sublime in their own land!
