Malaika Kids
Malaika Kids was searching for a volunteer to work on location in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. They needed someone to help them to organise and professionalize their finances and administration.
My network led us to Robin Schonenberg (from the company Stibbe, in Amsterdam), who gladly undertook this task. Robin has travelled to Dar Es Salaam on 1 May 2009, for a period of 2 months. Stibbe wanted to support this good venture between Malaika Kids and Robin, and have therefore given me the possibility to hold an exhibition in the company’s cafeteria.
The beauty and richness of Tanzania was chosen as a theme. Thus, portraits reflecting the relationship between man and nature in this fascinating land were selected. A large portion of the photographs exhibited at Stibbe have been published for the very first time.
The Malaika Kids initiative is making a marked difference in the areas where they are operating in Tanzania, as well as in the lives of many orphaned children. I was drawn to their work and am therefore donating 25% of the exhibition’s proceeds to this admirable organisation.
For this reason, the photographs are to be purchased through direct mail and not through the online store. The dimensions are 50x50 and one print costs €60 – excluding postage and packing.
